A basic step leading to increased safety for people using potentially infected rooms (hospital rooms) is their regular cleaning and disinfection. However, disinfection alone may not be sufficient – verification of the effectiveness of the measures taken is crucial.

In order to confirm the effectiveness of the hospital’s disinfection and cleaning procedures or to monitor compliance of cleaning practices with the relevant hospital procedures, it is suggested that periodic testing of the microbiological cleanliness of surfaces – swabs or impressions of surfaces – be carried out.

In the area of these tests we offer:

Testing for microbiological cleanliness of hospital room surfaces - swabs and impressions from walls, floors, countertops and other items of equipment e.g. air conditioners;
Microbiological cleanliness testing of workers' protective clothing and hands.

Types and methods of testing proposed by GBA POLSKA:

  • swabs from limited or unrestricted surfaces – taken from porous surfaces, hard-to-reach areas or employees’ working clothes – parameters examined, e.g.: total microbial count, yeast and mould count, Enterobacteriaceae count, coliform count, Pseudomonas aeruginosa count, coagulase-positive staphylococcus count (Staphylococcus aureus and other species), Enterococcus count, Legionella count, etc;
  • surface imprints – taken from large, flat surfaces – tested parameters, e.g.: total number of microorganisms, number of yeasts and moulds, number of Enterobacteriaceae.

As part of our offer, we will provide a comprehensive service: sample collection, transport under controlled conditions and laboratory analysis of samples.
