Safety and quality of cosmetics<\/span><\/span><\/h3><\/header>

The safety and quality of cosmetic products are the most important issues for both consumers and manufacturers. The main reason is that these products are applied directly on the skin, hair or nails. Very often they also come into contact with the eye mucosa, intimate zones or the oral cavity, thanks to this the ingredients of these products have an easy way of penetrating the human body.<\/p>\n

In the European Union, the law on cosmetics is regulated by two main legal acts:<\/p>\n

Regulation (EC) No 1223\/2009 of the European Parliament and of the Council and Regulation (EC) No 1223\/2009 on cosmetic products and a large numer of documents that are recommendations for manufacturers. The law on cosmetic products is identical in all European Union. Thanks to this, it is possible to maintain the same and high level of safety of cosmetic products, and also facilitates their distribution among EU countries. Individual regulations regulate parameters such as composition, labeling or production conditions.<\/p>\n

Before placing a product on the market, the person responsible for the product is required to prepare a safety assessment report and submit the product to the European Cosmetic Product Notification Portal (CPNP). European law on the safety of cosmetic products is very strict. Each cosmetic is subject to detailed tests: microbiology, physicochemical, dermatology, stability and compatibility, as well as verification of marketing declarations and a safety assessmen report (performed by a specialist – Safety Assessor).<\/p>\n

Each manufacturer must provide documentation of the cosmetic upon request. It is made available in the EU at the address indicated on the package. The production of cosmetics cannot be random or uncontrolled. All production sites must manufacture cosmetics in accordance with good manufacturing practice. It is a set of rules agreed by the international standardization organization (ISO). They are used to ensure quality in the area of: production, quality control and storage along with the shipment of cosmetic products.<\/p>\n
